Recently Google sent out another update that shut down some of the biggest link farms on the internet. These sites were supposed to be safe and out of range of the Google, Bing, and Yahoo updates. The obviously were not. Citations and Backlinks especially from local organizations such as the local Chamber of Commerce or the BBB.

Building a local business means finding local customers. We have mentioned before that 85% of most small business have local customers, these local customers shop at other local business create a local ring of backlinks and more importantly citations.

There are two companies/websites that we used to find local citations that you can use. We use these tools when gathering citations for local clients. We would not recommend something unless we were using it ourselves.

First WhiteSpark http://www.whitespark.ca/local-citation-finder/ this tool allows you to search local citations which you then can try to connect with similar businesses in your local area. This is a pretty tedious task, that is why we have added this feature to our Bronze Package. We understand the importance of finding local customers.
